A banner read from thirty metres does not follow the same rules as a business card: files have to be prepared to scale, contrast increased and text cut back to the essentials. We take your files and adapt them to the actual size, or start from your brand guidelines if you have nothing ready.
The material follows the use: PVC banner with eyelets for scaffolding exposed to the wind, micro-perforated mesh to let the air through on large surfaces, a fabric roll-up for a trade fair where everything is packed away each evening.

Which banner stands up outdoors, in the wind?
Outdoors, wind is the main constraint. On a solid wall, a plain banner tensioned by its eyelets is fine. Out in the open, on railings, a fence or scaffolding, we move to a mesh textile that lets the air through. Without it, the banner acts as a sail: it pulls out its fixings, or tears. We always ask where it will be fitted before choosing.
How is a banner fixed properly?
By the eyelets, set in a reinforced hem all the way round. Tension it on all four sides with ties, bungees or tension cord, never at the corners alone, because a banner held only along the top flaps and tears. The spacing of the eyelets is decided by the size and the exposure. For work at height, the Blackbee teams take care of it.
Can a banner be reused from one year to the next?
Yes, if it is stored properly. Wash it with clean water, let it dry completely, then roll it rather than folding it, because creases mark the print and end up cracking. Store it away from frost and sunlight. Think about the artwork too: a date or wording that expires makes the banner unusable, whereas the same artwork without a date will serve again.
My banner is damaged. Can you make exactly the same one again?
Yes. The print files are kept from one order to the next, so we run the same artwork again, at the same size, with the same finishes. You have nothing to send us. If you only want to change a line of text or a date, we work from the existing file and send you a proof before printing. The same goes for your roll-ups.
For a trade show, a roll-up or a banner?
A roll-up, in almost every case. It stands on its own, goes up in one movement, packs into its bag and is carried by hand. It is made for a stand, a reception hall or a room. A banner needs a frame or fixing points. On a stand, the two are often combined: the banner as a backdrop, the roll-ups at reception.
